E3 - Microcontroller
The E3 series automotive microcontroller of SemiDrive is the next-generation high-performance
microcontroller product specially designed for an automotive safety-related application. This
product family integrates up to 3 pairs of ARM Cortex R5 dual-core lockstep CPU with 4 MB
on-chip SRAM to satisfy the growing demands for computing power and memory in automotive
applications.
E3 has rich communication peripheral integration, such as CAN-FD, LIN, FlexRay, USB, and Gigabit
Ethernet TSN, enabling the system to be seamlessly integrated into the automotive system at an
excellent system BOM cost. The built-in hardware security module integrates a true random number
generator, AES, RSA, ECC, SHA, and hardware accelerators that comply with the commercial
cryptography standard 2/3/4/9 of the State Cryptography Administration. The integration of these
features can satisfy the needs of functions, such as secure boot, secure communication, and
secure firmware upgrade.
E3 display products especially integrate multimedia peripherals, such as 2D GPU, graphics
hardware accelerator, RGB or LVDS video outputs, and parallel CSI video inputs, so they are
suitable for automotive display applications, such as automotive 2D virtual cluster, HUD, and
electronic rearview mirrors. The certification on automotive functional safety integrity level
of E3 products can reach ASIL D, an international leading level.
